Editorial Policies
Last updated: June 15, 2026
Quockerwodger Media covers Vancouver's live-music and cultural scene. These policies explain how we work, how we stay independent, how we handle mistakes, and how we label anything we are paid for. They apply to everyone who contributes to the publication.
Editorial Standards & Independence
What we cover and what we say is decided solely by our editorial team. Our coverage is never sold, traded, or influenced by advertisers, sponsors, venues, promoters, or artists.
- Every published piece offers at least one of: an original point of view, original reporting, or original photography.
- We do not publish press releases as editorial, and we do not publish AI-generated filler.
- Reviews reflect the honest assessment of the writer and photographer who were present.
- Contributors work under a signed agreement and retain copyright in their own work.
Corrections
We aim for accuracy in every piece — names, dates, venues, set lists, and quotes are verified before publication.
When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and transparently: the correction is made in the article and noted at the foot of the piece with the date and the nature of the change. To request a correction, email corrections@quockerwodger.ca.
Conflict of Interest
Contributors disclose any personal, financial, or professional relationship with a subject they cover, including bands, venues, promoters, and sponsors.
- Where a subject is also a photography-services client of Quockerwodger Media, a sponsor, or a close personal connection, we either assign someone else or clearly disclose the relationship within the piece.
- Coverage is never offered, promised, or withheld as part of any paid arrangement.
Sponsored Content & Disclosure
Sponsored or partner content is always clearly labelled — for example, "Presented by" or "Paid partnership" — and is visually and editorially distinct from independent coverage.
- Sponsors may support a section, guide, or newsletter, but receive no influence over editorial coverage, reviews, or which shows we cover.
- We accept local, relevant partners and decline advertising that is privacy-invasive or misaligned with our audience and values.
