- Artemas brought his LOVERCORE / GETTING UP TO NO GOOD tour to Vancouver’s Malkin Bowl on September 8, and the crowd looked like they had stepped straight into his world. Nearly every fan was dressed in black and lace, perfectly matching Artemas’ dark, seductive aesthetic. It made the entire audience feel like part of the show before Artemas even stepped on stage.
From the beginning, the energy was intense. Artemas moved through his set with a confidence that perfectly suited his music, while the Vancouver crowd sang and danced along to songs like “superstar,” “Southbound,” and “in my arms.” Hearing these songs live gave them an entirely different energy, especially with all the fans singing the lyrics back.
One of the sweetest moments came when Artemas talked about his time in Canada. He mentioned that he had been here for a few days already, that he loved it, and joked that he felt very Canadian by now. It was a small interaction, but it showed how much he was enjoying his time in the country and made the Vancouver show feel a little more personal.
The setlist was filled with fan favourites, including “wet dreams,” “professional heartbreaker,” and “if u think i’m pretty.” Of course, “caroline” and “i like the way you kiss me” created some of the biggest reactions of the night, with the entire crowd shouting the lyrics back at him.
But my personal highlight was “i’d like to crawl inside your mind.” It was already one of my favourite songs, but hearing the live version made it even more special. Artemas changed the ending to include a high note, and it was one of those moments where you could feel the entire audience react. Hearing him hit that note live gave the song an entirely new dimension and made it the moment I’ll probably remember most from the night.
By the time “as I wave goodbye” closed the show, the crowd had completely embraced Artemas’ world. From the black-and-lace outfits to the nonstop singing and dancing, Vancouver felt perfectly suited to his aesthetic. Artemas didn’t just put on a concert — he created an atmosphere, and the audience was completely willing to live in it for the night.
