The show was on August 30, 2025 — one night before Grey Lab closed its doors for good. I couldn't make it to the final night, but I made it out for this last night of creativity in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The room felt equal parts celebration and quiet grief: people wanting to linger in the place that had been a hub for the local scene.
Lineup impressions
- Bluestem (@bluestemband) — High energy with a flair for the dramatic. Their stage presence kicked the night off with momentum, theatrical and focused on giving everything to the crowd.
- Chronic Fatigue (@chronic.fatigue.band) — A much-talked-about act in the Vancouver scene and for good reason. Their punk-inflected songs were raw and danceable — the kind that make you move while also sink into the lyrics.
- Kama Sutra Murder (@kamasutramurder) — A crazy-vibe band with killer drums and a fashion-forward stage look. They brought a confident, kinetic set that I’ll definitely try to catch again.
- Wuji (@wujiband) — A strong, aesthetic band whose sound closed the night with presence and texture.

Notes
Why Grey Lab closed? Feature Vancouver explains that zoning and repeated enforcement actions made it unsustainable: after frequent inspections, raids, and fines, running the space — despite passing safety checks — became financially and administratively untenable for its operator.
