The Label That Books Its Own
Secret City Records is an independent label that releases the records and handles the shows for its own roster, one of the small artist-first outfits that take on promotion themselves. When one of its acts plays Vancouver, the people who signed the band answer the credential mail. The label books the date and minds its own door, with no press office in between.
What That Means for Coverage
Secret City has a reputation for being photographer-friendly and reads a polite, on-time request. Shoots follow the usual first-three-songs courtesy in a club-sized room. Requests go by email ahead of the date with the photographer's outlet and a few recent samples. A clear note and some lead time are all the label asks.
