The room
Revue Stage is a 198-seat thrust theatre at 1601 Johnston Street on Granville Island, at the northeast corner of the Public Market building. CMHC-Granville Island lists EventLAB as the manager. Presenters use it for theatre, comedy, dance, live music, author talks, and presentations. The operator lists in-house audio, lighting, video, live streaming, and hybrid-event support.
Next door
The Arts Club's Lindsay Family Stage (the former Granville Island Stage) sits across the lane at 1585 Johnston Street. That 440-seat house is a different room. Revue Stage is the smaller thrust theatre at the back of the market.
Who has run it
The Arts Club Theatre Company opened Revue Stage in 1983, the smaller neighbour to its 1979 Granville Island theatre. Musicals, revues, and comedies there included Ain't Misbehavin'. The company leased the room to the Vancouver TheatreSports League in 1997. After a renovation, the Arts Club reopened it in 2010 with the world premiere of Anosh Irani's My Granny the Goldfish, then moved that programming to its Olympic Village stage in 2015. The company's official history traces those changes.
Red Gate Arts Society began managing the theatre in 2017. Its Revue Stage page now says that arrangement has ended. Red Gate's current venue is at 1965 Main Street; Revue Stage remains the Granville Island room.
Planning a visit
Granville Island's accessibility guide lists Revue Stage as accessible for mobility-device users and identifies an accessible washroom. Front-row wheelchair seating is described in the 2024 Vancouver Fringe access guide (Word document). Confirm seating arrangements and any specific access needs with the presenter when booking.
