The Room Books Itself
Rickshaw Theatre Presents is the in-house promoting arm of the Rickshaw, the converted East Hastings cinema that has spent its second life as a Vancouver rock room for metal, punk, and industrial bills. When the name on the bill is the venue's own, the booking, the door, and the press list all run through the same building.
What That Means for Coverage
A Rickshaw house show is a club night with a wide stage, a deep floor, and lighting that leans red and moody rather than evenly lit. A fast lens and high ISO suit the room, and the standard first-three-songs courtesy applies even when no barricade is being policed. Because the house promotes the night, there is no third-party tour office in the way; the people approving the pass are the people running the show.
Submitting
For house shows at the Rickshaw, accreditation is handled in-house, so requests go to the venue directly rather than to a separate promoter. Photographers reach out a couple of weeks before the date with their outlet and a few recent samples, and the same crew that loads the stage handles the pass.
